Oh I'm sure all these wars and conflicts are ultimately about some valuable resource someone wants to grab for themselves (usually the USA). I was reading in the London Independent today about the incredible violence and destruction waged by diamond-seekers in Sierra Leone. Naturally the diamond retailers overlooked the violence and were only too happy to buy the diamonds.
